Notes on personality

 Notes on personality

 Good can be Greedy too

               By Edmund Scholz

While some personality traits may appear to be in one camp of alignment or other, the personality trait is viewed from the characters alignment. It is possible that the personality is a flaw in what they would like their character to be; a good person being cowardly and unable to do good when treated for example. It is also possible that the trait is retooled to fit their existing alignment; a greedy good character might feel that money is the root of all evil, and it is his job to remove money from others to help them. A generous evil character might see giving away money as a way to increse greed and discord, or to attain what he truly values, military power. Or a chaotic character who always follows social rules because the gods of chaos demands it, and by following the rules rigidly he can create chaos . . . and they gain great glee when the rules are mutually contradictory -always feed a guest, but always kill orcs, so when an orc guest comes .  . .

If there are only a few traits contra to alignment they are probably character flaws, but even then the character will try to justify them most of the time, even to themselves.
