NOT CURRENT REFERENCE ONLY
Ed Scholz Honour Rules
If a character is in the overlap they
gain only hat the higher level but they only lose at the lower of the
two levels ( so penalties are less, but rewards are also less) If the
overlap is recent they maintain what ever level they previous had (so
level one to two is considerer one, but level 2 to one is considered
level two) till the end of the year, unless they leave the overlap of
course.
Characters can only to the maximum
of the next higher honour reward and the minimum of the next lower
reward on a single adventure/season.

Assuming using the old player book your typical lord nets about
5 sp per peasesnt (they actually pay more tax than that, but we can
asumuie collecting it costs money too) and 20 silver per gold we
thus have 0.25 gold per inhabitant (not actually per peasant, we can
assume that it is an average, some people pay less, some people pay
more) then 4,000 inhabitants ( city size in midevl terms, as London
and all the farms around it where about 10,000 to 20,000 people, the
city of York a population of 2,000 in the 9th century) will produce
about 1,000 gp a month, or 12, 000 gp a year. This wealth is spend on
the 9th level lords upkeep of men and supplies, profict, or
expansion. None the less with 5 years you could afford a vorpal
sword. A powerful Baron with sveral cities under this belt, adn a
population of say a million could easily afford massive projects.
Even if we assume a tiny fraction (say 10%) of the gold can be spend
on weird projects (the rest spend on hirin more men, paying staff,
and more castles) that still gives the a King of a large land of
several million (say 4 to make it easy) a fair bit of money - a
100,000 gp a month to spend on whimsical projects such as the making
of vorpal blandes or the funding of quests.
Magic item formula
can be made in two basic ways. The easy way, based on a time period
and place, and the hard but recporducable way based on components.
Some time and place magic items are actually fairly reproducible, if
the place can be held for example, or the time comes up fredelny
(like the eve of the New Moon)
